Kathy Insley is a retired New Jersey native now living with her husband in beautiful St. James, North Carolina. She has always been interested in art and began collaging more than 10 years ago. She started with classic collage style, in which the paper is cut. Two years later, she moved to a more organic technique of paper tearing. Much of her artwork looks like paintings because she “blends” different colored paper together. “I love to see the picture come to life,” she says. Kathy tries to have a low carbon footprint when she works. She upcycles old magazines, frames, and even leftover Vinyl flooring to make her original works of art. “If we can reuse what we already have to make something wonderful, maybe we can help save the planet.”
